Happiness Watimanywa, was crowned as Miss Tanzania in the 2013 contest on Saturday 21st September. Happiness graduated in 2011 with Cambridge A level A* grades in History, Geography and Accounting. In 2009 she obtained the highest grade worldwide in IGCSE Accounting. Whilst at St Constantine’s Happy was Chairperson of the School Council, Captain of Athletics and a Headgirl. All in all Happy was an extraordinary role-model and friend to everyone. Apart from her duties as Miss Tanzania, Happy was studying at University College of London (UCL) before moving at Glassgow University. She is studying Environmental Studies, she will represent Tanzania in to the Miss World 2014....

HALLE BERRY GOES ‘WILD’ FOR NEW FRAGRANCE

“Halle Berry looks “wildly” sexy in this shoot for her new fragrance. The product, Wild Essence Halle Berry, claims to, “capture the sensual essence of a women in nature,” and features the X-Men actress in a sheer, black mesh dress against a jungle backdrop. “The essence of a woman is in body and soul and becomes more sensual in nature,” said the Oscar-winning actress. Adding: “With my newest fragrance I wanted to go deep into the rainforest where I could capture the primal richness of nature in an effortless scent.” The perfume, which includes Sicilian bergamot, “juicy black currant and mandarin zest” with lighter hints of sandalwood bark and white patchouli costs around $28.00 for 30ml. “I love the idea of creating a fragrance that will allow women to connect with nature, through perfume,” said Berry, 48. Described as a “sparkling, multi-floral” aroma the adverts appear to be shot in a tropical climate and Berry’s skin has a glowing sheen. “The enticing, sexy campaign powerfully captures the sensual connection between Halle and nature, magnetized by the enveloping strength of scent,” says the campaign’s blurb.”

VISIT BY THE PRESIDENT OF UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA, HE DR JAKAYA MRISHO KIKWETE TO WITNESS WORLD LUNG FOUNDATION’S ICT INOVATIONS IN PREVENTING MATERNAL MORTALITY
On the 20th August, 2014, Mwaya village, in Ulanga district, Morogoro came to a standstill as the president of the United Republic of Tanzania; HE Dr Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete was visiting WLF-supported Mwaya Health Centre.

A team of experts and technicians led by the Deputy Clinical Director of World Lung Foundation, Dr Sunday Alfred Dominico demonstrated before the president various ICT solutions that have been developed by the foundation to supplement other interventions in reducing maternal and new-born mortality.
The president witnessed one of the teleconference in which, various health care providers working in remote hard-to-reach areas of Tanzania where connected to the clinical director, Dr Hamed Mohamed in Dar es Salaam. A clinical case operated at Mwaya Health Centre was shared and discussed. Dr Kikwete, accompanied by the first lady Mama Salma Kikwete, applauded World Lung Foundations efforts in comprehensively implementing Tanzania’s sharpened one plan.
Commenting at the event, Minister of State in the President's Office for Public Service Management, HE, Selina Kombani(Ulanga East MP)commended World Lung Foundation’s work at Mwaya, including constructing modern state-of-the-art staff houses, theatre, maternity wing, water well, laboratory and equipping the facility with generators, solar systems and surgical equipments, drugs and supplies. Mwaya health centre is one of the 15 facilities supported by World Lung Foundation, in Kigoma, Pwani and Morogoro. The foundation, led by the Director Dr. Nguke Mwakatundu, implements a maternal health project that is based on decentralizing life serving Emergency Obstetric Care to remote facilities beyond district hospital and tasking shifting of these skills to non-physician clinicians.

Ikponmwosa Osakioduwa is a Nigerian Radio and television on air personality. He was known to most just as Wildchild but since his marriage, has been known as simply IK. He
is known for his work with Rhythm 93.7fm, but he is also a presenter on MNet’s Studio 53, and is best known as the presenter of Big Brother Africa
BIOGRAPHY
He was born in Lagos, Nigeria to homemaker Felicia Oviawe and Brigadier General Samuel Oviawe, he is the middle child of five children. I.k. started out on stage at a young age, acting in stage
plays and being in the choir as early as age 7. At age 15 along with some of his siblings and cousins recorded a tape in which he pretended to be a radio show host taking calls from listeners. I.k. attended The
University of Lagos where he got his start in the television industry on a show called Campus circuit television which aired on Africa Independent Television. After that he took a break from the industry
to concentrate on his education and he graduated with a degree in Economics.
CAREER- Early Career
He studied Economics at the University of Lagos. While studying he took part in many stage plays and concerts, where he discovered and groomed his talent as a Master of Ceremonies/Host. After graduating
from University in 2001, Osakioduwa worked for Rhythm 93.7 FM, as a presenter popularly known as The Wild Child (thanks to his humorous and unpredictable personality). However, in compliance with the Nigerian Youth Service Corps, which is a one-year mandatory service of all graduate Nigerians, he had to leave the radio station to serve in a neighbouring state. He also worked in an advertising firm as a Client Service Executive, and in 2005 he returned to the radio station, Rhythm 93.7, and retained the name The Wild Child.

Ikponmwosa and Olohije Osakioduwa were married in a church ceremony on the 3rd of October, 2008 in Lagos after four years of friendship and a year of dating. In an interview with The Expatriate
Magazine,“Olo was the only friend who seemed to get me and did not want to change me…”. The couple have two children Osahar and Micah.

My father was a great musician who could never realise his dream. He died when I was 11 years old. I inherited my talent from both parents, so music is in my blood. I am blessed that I achieved what my father had not been able to accomplish.

THE MOST AMAZING POSITIVE VIBES FROM SOME OF THE YOUNG FOLKS DOES IN BONGO -THAT WE HARDLY KNOW!!
On June 16th I was at Julius Nyerere International Airport getting ready to board a flight to Nairobi for the Kenya edition of the High Performance Leadership seminar with Azim Jamal and Brian Tracy. While at the airport, I was pleasantly surprised to meet my university professor from my undergraduate days at Mzumbe University who was boarding the same flight. We sat down over a cup of coffee and he praised me for my work and acknowledged that the university is very proud to have produced such a person as me. Just to hear him speak so highly of me really motivated me to continue what I am doing and keep pushing for change in the world.
The main topic of discuss with the Professor was the current rebasing of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of some African countries, most prominent being Nigeria, and similar initiatives in Kenya and South Africa.The United Nations defines rebasing as the "process of replacing present price structure (base year) to compile volume measures of GDP with a new or more recent base year." Rebasing is theoretically a means of allowing the computation of more accurate GDP figures and thus provide a more realistic picture of the economic landscape in a country. After rebasing, Nigeria has now overtaken South Africa as the continent's biggest economy with GDP now worth $510bn (2013 figures).
So what has Nigeria done during its rebasing exercise? The rebased GDP figures now include the informal sector and show a much greater contribution of services sector. E-commerce, telecommunications and its prolific "Nollywood" film industry are now some of the most important sectors in the Nigerian economy. Nollywood generates nearly $600 million a year and employs more than a million people, making it the country's second-largest employer after agriculture. The number of industries covered in GDP computation has increased from 33 to 46 while greater weighting has been allocated to sectors such as telecommunications.Nigeria and South Africa have the two largest mobile phone markets in Africa[there are now some 120 million mobile-phone subscribers in Nigeria, out of a population of 170 million. Under the new set of data, the oil and gas sector, by far the biggest source of government revenue, contributed 14 percent of GDP compared with 32 percent under the old GDP computations.

Why are African countries such as Nigeria rebasing of their GDP now? One reason could be that it is a new marketing strategy. To be named as biggest economy in Africa undoubtedly creates its own hype and can significantly improve an economy's prospects in attracting foreign investment.
"One estimate suggests that for twenty years sub-Saharan African economies have been growing three times faster than suggested by the 'official' data."
When Ghana rebased in 2010, its GDP increased by 60 percent, transforming it instantly from a "low-income" country into a "lower-middle-income" country.
Closer to home in East Africa, currently Kenya is rebasing its economy so as to maintain its position as the biggest economy in East Africa. The rebasing exercise, which shifts the base year from 2001 to 2009, is expected to show an expansion of the economy by 20.6%. economist they urge Nigeria techniques does not reflect reality,
Despite the changes in GDP computation, Nigeria has per capita income of $3,000 which is low – and well below South Africa's at $7,336. Nigerians continue to struggle with poverty, inequality and electricity shortages.
What is the current status in East Africa? Kenya has GDP of $45 billion; Tanzania has $34 billion GDP, Uganda has $23 billion GDP, Rwanda $7 billion GDP and Burundi is $2.4 billion GDP. Due to oil and gas discoveries in Uganda and Tanzania,their respective GDPs are expected to significantly increase in the coming years. In the case of Tanzania, the economy is expected to become the 3rd biggest economy in Africa by 2035 if key obstacles are going to be resolved.
During my discussion with Professor two issues arose and I would like to share them with you:
Data might show a country's GDP growing rapidly but the majority of its people are poor. It may be that the GDP is being generated and controlled by very wealthy while rest remain poor and powerless. In a recent interview, Dr Yemi Kale, Statician General of the National Bureau of Statistics of Nigeria said: "While it [GDP] depicts how rich a nation is, this is not necessarily the same as showing how rich the individuals in the nation are, due to the problem of unequal distribution of wealth. Similarly, growth in GDP is not synonymous with job creation.
If the rest of Africa adopts the same techniques Africa is going to be rich in term of figure not real life.
Nigeria vs South Africa
Nigeria's takes the title of Africa's biggest economy will fuel a longstanding rivalry with South Africa. South Africa currently represents Africa at the G20, as well as in the "BRICS" group of the most powerful emerging economies, which also includes Brazil, Russia, India and China. Nigeria may argue that it should join those clubs too.
Just the other day while I was reviewing a report on the Ease of Doing Business criteria, I discovered that some of the measures to encourage investment and reduce red tape are very simple. Singapore has been ranked number one due to fact that they have been doing well and scoring good marks in the following areas: Starting A Business, Dealing with Construction Permits, Getting Electricity, Registering Property, Getting Credit, Protecting Investors, Paying Taxes, Trading Across Borders, Enforcing Contracts and Resolving Insolvency.
Back to Tanzania, why has it not been easy to solve the above mention issues quickly? Our nation, like any other nation, is complex machine. However, we can rapidly develop if we succeed in creating and enterprising, business-minded economy. Such an entrepreneurial society will increase efficiency and vastly increase economic growth and development as has been the case in countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and South Korea. As the country develops more rapidly it will also develop politically and exhibit greater democracy and good governance. This will in turn create greater alignment between business and politics as they seek to promote mutual interests, which should mean Tanzanians having an even greater say in their local politics, hence greater development. With all the benefits it can bring, it is imperative to create an enterprising, business-minded society as soon as possible.

SUICIDE AND SUICIDAL BEHAVIOR !!! # NEVER IGNORE A SUICIDE THREAT OR ATTEMPTED SUICIDE
Suicide is the act of taking one's own life on purpose. Suicidal behavior is any action that could cause a person to die, such as taking a drug overdose or crashing a car on purpose.
Causes
Suicide and suicidal behaviors usually occur in people with one or more of the following:
- Bipolar disorder
- Borderline personality disorder
- Depression
- Drug or alcohol use
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Schizophrenia
- Stressful life issues, such as serious financial or relationship problems
People who try to commit suicide are often trying to get away from a situation that seems impossible to deal with. Many who make a suicide attempt are seeking relief from:
- Feeling ashamed, guilty, or like a burden to others
- Feeling like a victim
- Feelings of rejection, loss, or loneliness
Suicidal behaviors may occur when there is a situation or event that the person finds overwhelming, such as:
- Aging (the elderly have the highest rate of suicide)
- Death of a loved one
- Drug or alcohol use
- Emotional trauma
- Serious physical illness
- Unemployment or money problems
Risk factors for suicide in teenagers include:
- Access to guns
- Family member who committed suicide
- History of hurting themselves on purpose
- History of being neglected or abused
- Living in communities where there have been recent outbreaks of suicide in young people
- Romantic breakup
Most suicide attempts do not result in death. Many of these attempts are done in a way that makes rescue possible. These attempts are often a cry for help.
Some people attempt suicide in a way that is less likely to be fatal, such as poisoning or overdose. Men are more likely to choose violent methods, such as shooting themselves. As a result, suicide attempts by men are more likely to result in death.
Relatives of people who attempt or commit suicide often blame themselves or become very angry. They may see the suicide attempt as selfish. However, people who try to commit suicide often mistakenly believe that they are doing their friends and relatives a favor by taking themselves out of the world.
Symptoms
Often, but not always, a person may show certain signs and behaviors before a suicide attempt, such as:
- Having trouble concentrating or thinking clearly
- Giving away belongings
- Talking about going away or the need to "get my affairs in order"
- Suddenly changing behavior, especially calmness after a period of anxiety
- Losing interest in activities they used to enjoy
- Self-destructive behaviors, such as heavily drinking alcohol, using illegal drugs, or cutting their body
- Pulling away from friends or not wanting to go out
- Suddenly having trouble in school or work
- Talking about death or suicide, or even saying that they want to hurt themselves
- Talking about feeling hopeless or guilty
- Changing sleep or eating habits
- Arranging ways to take their own life (such as buying a gun or many pills)
Treatment
People who are at risk of suicidal behavior may not seek treatment for many reasons, including:
- They believe nothing will help
- They do not want to tell anyone they have problems
- They think asking for help is a sign of weakness
- They do not know where to go for help
A person may need emergency treatment after a suicide attempt. They may need first aid, CPR, or more intensive treatments.
People who try to commit suicide may need to stay in a hospital for treatment and to reduce the risk of future attempts. Therapy is one of the most important parts of treatment.
Any mental health disorder that may have led to the suicide attempt should be evaluated and treated. This includes:
- Bipolar disorder
- Borderline personality disorder
- Drug or alcohol dependence
- Major depression
- Schizophrenia
Always take suicide attempts and threats seriously. If you or someone you know is thinking about suicide, there are numbers that you can call from anywhere in the United States, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week: 1-800-SUICIDE or 1-800-999-9999.
Call the local emergency number (such as 911) right away if someone you know has attempted suicide. Do not leave the person alone, even after you have called for help.
Outlook (Prognosis)
About one-third of people who try to commit suicide will try again within 1 year. About 10% of people who threaten or try to commit suicide will eventually kill themselves.
When to Contact a Medical Professional
Call a health care provider right away if you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide. The person needs mental health care right away. Do not dismiss the person as just trying to get attention.
Prevention
Avoiding alcohol and drugs (other than prescribed medicines) can reduce the risk of suicide.
In homes with children or teenagers:
- Keep all prescription medicines high up and locked.
- Do not keep alcohol in the home or keep it locked up.
- Do not keep guns in the home. If you do keep guns in the home, lock them and keep the bullets separate.
Many people who try to commit suicide talk about it before making the attempt. Sometimes, just talking to someone who cares and who does not judge them is enough to reduce the risk of suicide.
However, if you are a friend, family member, or just know someone who you think may attempt suicide, never try to manage the problem on your own. Seek help. Suicide prevention centers have telephone "hotline" services.
Never ignore a suicide threat or attempted suicide.

Even when we reveal our real identities, we still misbehave.You've probably seen it before, people being rude or just plain mean on Facebook or Twitter. But why do our virtual manners fail to reflect the everyday ones? Social networks like Facebook and Twitter began as a way to communicate with far off friends and family, but have since morphed into a means for people to start arguments and harass each other. People seem to be taking pride in expressing this bad behavior to others because at least initially it appears to be anonymous and they can get away with it. Manners and being polite seem to disappear the second we log on to the virtual world. Whether it's a text message, a tweet, or Facebook post you can't always read sarcasm.Bullies used to be just a playground problem, now it's widespread. Everyone has heard of cyber-bullying but not everyone is a witness to it. I think a lot of it is a way to blow off steam another thing is they don't really think before typing. You have to own the words you speak as well as the ones you type. What you type can come back and haunt you. It's not as simple as deleting a post or tweet. A good rule of thumb is to think twice before pressing send and ask yourself is this something I would say to the person face-to-face? We can garner healthy discussion online, that is if we don't abuse the power the Internet and social networks have provided. We always need to ask ourselves the question, just because we can do something, should we?

Don’t ignore death, but don’t be afraid of it either. Be afraid of a life you never lived because you were too afraid to take action. Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside you while you’re still alive. Be bold. Be courageous. Be scared to death, and then take the next step anyway.
YOU LIVE THE LIFE YOU CREATE FOR YOURSELF
Your life is yours alone. Others can try to persuade you, but they can’t decide for you. They can walk with you, but not in your shoes. So make sure the path you decide to walk aligns with your own intuition and desires, and don’t be scared to switch paths or pave a new one when it makes sense. BEING BUSY DOES NOT MEAN BEING PRODUCTIVE
Busyness isn’t a virtue, nor is it something to respect. Though we all have seasons of crazy schedules, very few of us have a legitimate need to be busy ALL the time. We simply don’t know how to live within our means, prioritize properly, and say no when we should. Being busy rarely equates to productivity these days. Just take a quick look around. Busy people outnumber productive people by a wide margin. Busy people are rushing all over the place, and running late half of the time. They’re heading to work, conferences, meetings, social engagements, etc. They barely have enough free time for family get-togethers and they rarely get enough sleep. Yet, emails are shooting out of their smart phones like machine gun bullets, and their day planners are jammed to the brim with obligations. Their busy schedule gives them an elevated sense of importance. But it’s all an illusion. They’re like hamsters running on a wheel. Though being busy can make us feel more alive than anything else for a moment, the sensation is not sustainable long term. We will inevitably, whether tomorrow or on our deathbed, come to wish that we spent less time in the buzz of busyness and more time actually living a purposeful life.
SOME KIND OF FAILURE ALWAYS OCCURS BEFORE SUCCESS
Most mistakes are unavoidable. Learn to forgive yourself. It’s not a problem to make them. It’s only a problem if you never learn from them. If you’re too afraid of failure, you can’t possibly do what needs to be done to be successful. The solution to this problem is making friends with failure. You want to know the difference between a master and a beginner? The master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried. Behind every great piece of art is a thousand failed attempts to make it, but these attempts are simply never shown to us Bottom line: Just because it’s not happening now, doesn’t mean it never will. Sometimes things have to go very wrong before they can be right.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO WAIT FOR AN APOLOGY TO FORGIVE
Life gets much easier when you learn to accept all the apologies you never got. The key is to be thankful for every experience – positive or negative. It’s taking a step back and saying, “Thank you for the lesson.” It’s realizing that grudges from the past are a perfect waste of today’s happiness, and that holding one is like letting unwanted company live rent free in your head. Forgiveness is a promise – one you want to keep. When you forgive someone you are making a promise not to hold the unchangeable past against your present self. It has nothing to do with freeing a criminal of his or her crime, and everything to do with freeing yourself of the burden of being an eternal victim.
SOME PEOPLE ARE SIMPLY THE WRONG MATCH FOR YOU
You will only ever be as great as the people you surround yourself with, so be brave enough to let go of those who keep bringing you down. You shouldn’t force connections with people who constantly make you feel less than amazing. If someone makes you feel uncomfortable and insecure every time you’re with them, for whatever reason, they’re probably not close friend material. If they make you feel like you can’t be yourself, or if they make you “less than” in any way, don’t pursue a connection with them. If you feel emotionally drained after hanging out with them or get a small hit of anxiety when you are reminded of them, listen to your intuition. There are so many “right people” for you, who energize you and inspire you to be your best self. It makes no sense to force it with people who are the wrong match for you.

Entire lives have been swiveled and flipped upside down, for better or worse, on the strength of an unpredictable event. And these events are always happening to someone else right this second. However good or bad a situation is now, it will change. That’s the one thing you can count on. So when life is good, enjoy it. Don’t go looking for something better every second.
